From the Dane 101:
The Milwaukee County DA’s office on Thursday announced that it had charged three individuals with felonies as part of the ongoing John Doe investigation into activities by certain of Gov. Scott Walker’s former and current staffers.
Tim Russell, formerly the housing director for Walker’s county administration and a longtime campaign aide, was charged with two felonies and one misdemeanor count of embezzlement. Sources have indicated that the charges are related to $11,000 that went missing from Operation Freedom, an annual veteran appreciation day held at the Milwaukee County Zoo.
Kevin Kavanaugh, a Walker appointee to the Milwaukee County Veteran Service Commission, was charged “with five felonies for theft and fraudulent writings by a corporate officer. He was the treasurer of the Milwaukee Purple Heart chapter at the time of the dispute over the $11,000 for Operation Freedom.”
